The SÄR Foundation focuses on the arts and cultural expression through various mediums, such as contemporary art exhibitions, publishing, creative workshops, film production, and educational and cultural initiatives and events.

Projects are chosen based on their alignment with the goals and objectives of the SÄR Foundation. We are open to supporting projects and cultural initiatives that are focused on advancing culture and arts in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

Established by Salima Sarsenova in 2023, the SÄR Foundation is dedicated to providing opportunities for both emerging and established artists in Kazakhstan, as well as promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of Kazakh art for the benefit of future generations.

MISSION
The main goal of the foundation is to provide a platform for local artists to showcase their talents and embark on new ambitious projects, through engaging in artistic exchange, research, commissions and collaborations. Our strategic objectives include providing financial support, access to resources, partnerships, and opportunities for artists to create and exhibit their work, fostering their growth and development. Furthermore, we aim to preserve and promote our cultural heritage through educational and cultural projects.
PHILOSOPHY
We recognise and aim to address various challenges in our local cultural landscape, such as preserving the cultural heritage of our country, ensuring accessibility to necessary resources for artists, and encouraging and stimulating education and learning in art and other creative industries.

THE KAZAKH
ORNAMENT
BOOK
One of the first projects undertaken by the SÄR Foundation was the publication of Kazakh Ornament, a limited-edition book based on Yeraly Ospanuly’s original work, The Ethnographic Atlas of Kazakh Ornament. Our project offers a novel perspective on the evolution and classification of Kazakh ornamentation, accompanied by a collection of rare illustrations and historical materials. Kazakh Ornament is a unique product centred around preserving the rich heritage of the Kazakh people within its historical context while also inspiring a new generation of readers to embrace a more thoughtful view of Kazakh ornament and uncover its deeper meanings.
